#46 " Tad "
46 " TAD " Alco 100ton boxcab . the model represents one of the seven 100 ton boxcabs built by Alco between 1925 and 1927. Some of the loco's had a flat nose while others had a curved nose as 46 has been modeled. No 46 was scratchbuilt from .040 stryene sheet , with the curved roof being formed from 1/4 inch stryene sheet, the interior being fully braced , for strenth. and the nose of the model came from a trolley car kit.. Most of the details are scratchbuilt, with the use of a few parts from kits and certain items from the Grandt line range. The model is powered by a Bachmann ho scale FT diesal A unit , with a solid metal frame making a very heavy and powerful loco. The loco is painted with enamel paint and weathered using dry powders. It was built and purchased from Tad Dowdy from Grapevine Texas
# "Pot Luck"
# " Pot Luck " A Lima bo bo conversion,. As with a lot of items, this was purchased through EBAY and thankfully not too expensive ! When # arrived, despite being well packed, it had suffured in the post and they had even managed to break the chassis in two. Usualy buying someone else's conversions adds a item totaly different to your pike and this was definetly different ! When purchased the cab fitted was solidly built in card , but would be more suitable for about 1/32 scale, with a total cab height in 1/48 scale of 12 feet, with the lower edge of the windows being almost 6 feet from the cab floor and a door height of 8 feet . Definetly needing a visit through the G.V.R.R. shops when/now she is rebuilt she will be a useful addition to the fleet. [photo's as purchased below]
