The R.H.D.R. is a 13+1⁄2-mile (22 km) line 15 inch gauge line which runs from Hythe , through Dymchurch , St Marys bay and Romney to Dungeness. The line opened on 16 July 1927. During the 2nd world war the line was taken over by the military, and even had its own amoured train. For many years , the railway was known as the Smallest public railway in the world.
