The Swanley New Barn Railway is a 900 yard balloon looped 71⁄4 in gauge railway located in Swanley Park and originally opened in 1986 and has a large collection of both steam and diesel outline locomotives . The main station is Lakeside which is a 3 platform terminus, with a turntable at the end. The railway is all controlled by Lakeside signal box which has a 36 lever Westinghouse L-type frame from London Undergrounds Gloucester Road, Croydon signal box. At the time of my first visit 20/05/2017 , 3 locomotives were in use D1000 " Western Enterprise " built by Mardyke in 2012 . 47718 " Niseag " built by Mardyke and originally ran on the Ness Island railway . 67005 " Queens Messenger " built by a member of the SNBR in 2016. I was kindly given a guided tour of the signal box and loco sheds to see all of the locos by Keith Jones and a big thank you to him and the other volunteers on this very friendly railway .
