With the exhaust needing to be replaced on the "pop" , we were left with the option of using the bus to reach Leicester, which if nothing else, was a change from driving. The route into Leicester on the A6 saw many fields and roads totally waterlogged . All 5 resident locomotives were out and running on a very wet , at times, railway gala day , with most trains being steam hauled by " Leonard " . A good turn out of general public saw almost every train running full, with other's still queing for the next train. 2 different rakes of skips were top and tailed by the 4 internal combustion loco's , at times when the passenger train was loading. Free entry to the museum and rides at 50p, what more could you ask for ?
