World of steam cornwall
Age of Steam Was near Penzance - long since dismantled . Age of steam Crowlas Penzance was a 10 1/4 " gauge line . Closed in 1982 because of planning infringements, it re opened as Penwith Pleasure Park for a short while. information kindly supplied by Adam Jeffrey The first two are definitely IZZY [ Isambard Kingdom Brunel " ] at age of steam, as she was originally fitted with hackworth valve gear but had a overhaul after the first year, to have a new boiler backhead fitted and the valve gear changed to walscherts. Oh and extra weight added at the front of the loco to stop her wheely'ing Sadly when the age of steam closed, IZZY never dreamed again until 1995 when she was overhauled and came to the Royal Vic. Funny enough, IZZY is 40 this may 2017 .
All four locos from the miniature railway still survive today, the two steamers are both at the Royal Victoria Railway near Southampton.
Leasowes miniature railway
Leasowes Miniature Railway was a 7 1/4" line which opened in 1990 and used to operate 250 yards along the towpath of Dudley No 2 Canal . 2 loco's were used and further details can be found on the website below . We visited during the Easter 2017 holidays and sadly found that the railway had not been run for a good number of years .
A chance visit for a toilet stop [ ! ] , found the rebuilt remains of the miniature railway which only operated from 1932 to 1938 . The two loco's that worked the line both still survive in full working order and can be found at the North Bay Railway in Scarborough and are illustrated there at the railways 2017 gala . " Robin Hood " retains her original name and " May Thompson " is now renamed " Poseidom " also colour footage of the railway can be found at .http://www.yorkshirefilmarchive.com/…/childrens-day-roundha… .
